Early Decision/Early Action: Finished!

Are you checking your portals? I hope so because these schools will not reach out to you. It is up to you to be proactive.

Logging in is important. There may be some information that these schools will want or have information for you. These schools will not reach out to you, therefore, it is your responsibility to log in to their website, not necessarily daily, maybe a few times a week. The school may need more information and they probably won’t reach out to you personally, they will have that information in your portal and wait for you.

Log into all your portals

  • You will see if your application is complete or not
  • If something says ‘waiting’, write it down and don’t panic, just dig a bit and find out what it is.
  • Check for the tasks: could it be a priority form, identity verification, maybe your essays aren’t there, just don’t panic, these are ‘easy fixes’.

Important information can be updated as necessary- like:

  • Significant extracurricular activities
  • Maybe you won an award for something
  • A rise in grades-your school counselor may be able to help you here, check in with the counselor office

You get the idea.

Just stay on top of this. It is important for the school to know that you are interested and of course that you exist, and yes, many of these schools ‘count’ the times you check your portal, how they know that you do this is beyond my technical understanding, but they do.

Your Other Applications

Of course, continue with all other applications, and as a reminder, your school counselors are not obligated to respond during any holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas which is why I encourage you to complete everything before the holidays, so if there are any issues, they can be rectified before the holidays and you can enjoy your family and some freedom, pie and everything else that goes along with holiday cheer.
