Hello High School, Goodbye Grade 8!
Decisions from universities are in and the collective sigh of relief can no doubt be heard through the world as students feel this massive weight lifted off their shoulders.
The Common Application has just announced that it is keeping the same essay prompts for the 2018-2019 as this year.
Since Malia Obama took her Gap Year before entering Harvard, there has been more of an interest in these Gap Year options. Clearly, it was the right thing for Malia to do. Now is the time to determine if it is the right thing for your student.
I know it sounds crazy to be thinking of summer in December and this year is almost behind us. I am amazed at how many emails, as well as catalogues and packages have come through already describing extraordinary summer programs.
For High School Seniors, this year, particularly the Fall, deadlines will be what they live by.

A lot has been happening with The Common Application (or as The Common Application says…’appening) these days.
While we look to Spring Break, we see the light at the end of the tunnel… meaning; the end of the school year is pretty much around the corner. Things have changed since my children were in school, and of course, even since way back when I was in school. There were fewer options for summer. We looked at camp, summer school and whatever was in the local vicinity. Today, there seems to be an explosion of options and sometimes that makes choice all the more difficult.
